Sassicaia is legendary as the original "Super Tuscan" wine. In 1994, Sassicaia achieved a historic milestone when it was granted its own Denomination of Controlled Origin, Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, the only wine in Italy produced by a single estate to have its own appellation.

The 2002 vintage is the blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc. Matured for 24 months in French oak barriques.

Tasting Note

The wine offers a rather subtle bouquet. Fully developed tertiary notes of dried red cherry, cedarwood, tobacco leaf, forest floor, and subtle leather. Medium-bodied and delicate with softened, silky tannins and a modest acidic core.
